The Names of God: Moshia’, My Deliverer

Isaiah 43:11 (Complete Jewish Bible)

11I, yes I, am ADONAI; besides me there is no deliverer [Moshia’].

Moshia’,  not to be confused with mashiach or messiah, means to deliver. A common translation in scripture is ‘Savior’.

Deliverer. One who “makes wide” or “makes sufficient.” One who gives freedom from distress and the ability to pursue one’s way. Often understood in a “this-worldly” manner of political deliverance, the word is also used to ultimately portray Adonai’s deliverance and salvation of the Israel of God. Derived from the Hebrew verb Yasha’. Note that the Name for Jesus – Yeshua – is derived from this same root.

(Hebrew for Christians, Savior,

Psalm 17:7 (Complete Jewish Bible)

7Show how wonderful is your grace, savior [Moshia’] of those who seek at your right hand refuge from their foes.

As we have found with other Hebrew words and names, the letters carry their own meanings which when viewed in context with the overall intent of the word, add depth and understanding.

[…] Mem has two forms: an open form and a closed form. The open form (pesucha) is said to represent the revealed truth of God (as demonstrated by Moses) […]

(Hebrew for Christians, Mem,

Recall that Christ sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost to teach us all truth and open our understanding of the scriptures. The Holy Spirit reveals the concealed and is the agent of the Father and Yeshua Jesus, who is our comforter and revealer […]

(Judeo Christian Israel Alliance, Lamed and Mem,

God as deliverer and savior reveals truth and provides understanding.

…this letter represents a peg or hook, which are used for securing something. The meaning of this letter is to add or secure.

(The Ancient Hebrew,

God as deliverer and savior secures us.

Sheen is symbolic of Divine power, provision and protection.

This three prong symbol tells of man’s apostate attempts by idolatry to corrupt, drag down or destroy God’s image, as we see in Israelite history and in today’s world as apostate times are happening- a falling away from our God-given moral values.

Sheen, as El Shaddai, stands for the Name of God; yet even the loftiest of all can be dragged down if men corrupt God’s image.

(Judeo Christian Israel Alliance, Sheen-Sin & Tav,

God as deliverer and savior rescues us from our own idolatrous and corrupt notions of God.

From previous names, we understand Yod to indicate: ordinate, perfection.

The word Ayin means “eye,” “to see,” and by extension, to understand and obey (see Jer. 5:21, Isa. 6:10, Matt. 13:15, etc.). Ayin further represents the primeval light, that is, the spiritual light of God mentioned in Gen. 1:3 (in distinction to celestial lights mentioned in Gen. 1:14-18).

(Hebrew for Christians, Ayin,

The ayin represents sight and insight (a perception of complex thoughts and concepts derived from integration of knowledge, understanding, wisdom). As  eye it means, perception, or spiritual insight. The utmost insight is to know that all God’s Commandments are reduced to love.

(Judeo Christian Israel Alliance, Ayin,

Moshia’ (Mem-Vav-Sheen-Yod-Ayin)

God alone is Adonai [Lord], besides Him there is no deliverer. He reveal his truth to us. He secures us in his love. He rescues us from our depravity. He gives us the ability to see, understand, and know Him and His will and way. Ordinate perfection.

He covers us in His love. He asks us in turn to: Love God. Love People.

Will you allow God to be your Adonai? Will you turn to Him as your only true Moshia’?

  1. I am stunned about how meaning these words carry. It seems so opposite to what we are accustomed to in the English language.

It seems these descriptions say so little but so much.

    Really enjoy these Dusty.

  2. This really speaks to where I am. Even this morning, God was speaking to me about letting go of wounds that I’ve received from Christians in the past so that I can move on, unhindered, towards fulfilling God’s Kingdom purpose. I can only do that through the strength of The Deliverer… “the One who gives freedom from distress and the ability to pursue one’s way.” Thank you for reminding me that as my Deliverer, He reveals His truth, which both sets me free and gives me joy. And as my Deliverer, He secures me, which means I can let go of the past hurts and not mourn any longer that my security was not found in those people that hurt me… Rather, my security is found in Him.

  3. The utmost insight is to know that all God’s Commandments are reduced to love.

That’s what Blackaby said in the video last night in Experiencing God! He talked about the choice we have to choose between life or death. He said that most of God’s commands are positive. His commands come from His care for us and to keep us safe in Him.

“Therefore when God gives a commandment, He is not restricting me. He is freeing me”. Blackaby, Experiencing God.

John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

  4. I have definitely known God as the Deliverer. What amazes me is that I can forget that He is the ONLY deliverer who can fully deliver. In every situation, he is more than able and abounding in grace. Great post, Dusty. Thanks.
