Kadosh – The Holy One
Two weeks ago, we began a look at the Hebrew name of God, ‘Kadosh‘, which means ‘Holy One’. Last week we studied ‘Qof’ and how it adds a new dimension of meaning to ‘Kadosh‘ (spelled Qof – Dalet – Vav- Shin). Picking up where we left off, let’s complete this study of God as the ‘Holy One’.
3 They were crying out to each other, “More holy than the holiest holiness is ADONAI-Tzva’ot! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”
We previously covered ‘Dalet‘ as we studied the name, ‘Adonai‘. The pictographic representation of this letter is that of a tent door.
Dalet represents lowliness and the consciousness of possessing nothing of one’s own. As a door Dalet also symbolically represents the choice to open ourselves to the hope of our dreams or to remain closed off and alienated. (Hebrew for Christians, http://www.hebrew4christians.com)
The Holy One is our only true source of Hope. He is our hope and our salvation. Without Him, all is lost. We must recognize our lowliness and lack, and turn to Him. It’s a point of decision in our lives. We either choose God, or we do not. We receive Him, or we do not. There is no in between.
‘Vav‘ is found in several of the names of God. We first encountered it when we studied, ‘YHVH‘. It means to be secured. Nothing can prevent or stop God from being ‘The Holy One’. In His holiness there is strength and security. By Him, our eternity has been secured through Jesus Christ and we are brought into and filled with His holiness.
As discovered in the study of ‘Moshia’,
Sheen [Shin] is symbolic of Divine power, provision and protection.
(Judeo Christian Israel Alliance, Sheen-Sin & Tav, http://www.graftedforlife.org)
He is Divine power. In His divinity, He provides and protects.
Qof: “There is none holy as God.” He is the highest order of Holy. He is the Holy One, the source of our redemption and salvation.
Dalet: “He is our hope and our salvation.”
Vav: He is secure in Holiness. In Him we are secured.
Shin: In Him, we encounter divine power, provision, and protection.
Kadosh! Kadosh! Kadosh!
More holy than the holiest holiness is the Lord, God Almighty!
Holy! Holy! Holy!
The whole earth is filled with His holiness.
